The Yamaha MM8 is a versatile 88-key synthesizer that brings high-quality sounds from Yamaha's legendary MOTIF series to a keyboard designed for live performance, songwriting and music production. With 418 Voices and 22 Drum Kits, the MM8 offers an extensive sound library ranging from authentic acoustic instruments to powerful and creative synthesizer sounds.

In addition to its MOTIF-based sounds, the MM8 includes 128 GM Normal Voices and 1 GM Drum Kit, making it well suited for playing back Standard MIDI Files. The Category Search function makes it easy to find the desired type of instrument, including piano, organ, guitar, strings and synth lead sounds.

For live performance, the MM8 features Performance Memory. This allows different settings, including Voices, layers, keyboard splits, Patterns and other important parameters, to be stored as complete Performances. You can then switch quickly between complete setups during a performance.

The built-in arpeggiator provides no fewer than 213 different arpeggio types. These can automatically generate rhythmic phrases, riffs, broken chords and melodic patterns. Bass arpeggios and rhythmic Drum Voice loops are also included, making the MM8 an inspiring instrument for improvisation and songwriting.

Through its USB connectivity, the MM8 can be integrated into a computer-based music production setup. MIDI songs, Pattern files, Performance settings and other data can be stored and transferred via USB. Recorded songs can also be saved as Standard MIDI Files (SMF) for use with other compatible devices and music software.

The MM8 can therefore serve as the center of a compact music production system. Via USB To Host, the instrument can be connected directly to a computer for MIDI recording, editing, sequencing and further production. The combination of an 88-key keyboard, MOTIF sounds, extensive arpeggio functions and Performance Memory makes the MM8 highly versatile for both live and studio use.
