The Catalinbread Topanga is a premium spring reverb simulator inspired by the legendary Fender 6G15 outboard spring reverb unit from the 1960s. This iconic effect helped define the classic surf guitar sound and countless other expressive guitar tones of the era.

What truly sets the Topanga apart is that, just like the original unit, it is designed to run in front of your amplifier. This means both the dry signal and the reverb signal interact with the amp’s input stage, allowing the reverb to become more intense, dynamic, and even slightly overdriven—something internal amp reverbs rarely achieve.

The signature Dwell control adjusts how hard the virtual springs are driven. Lower settings deliver subtle, spacious ambience, while higher settings unleash the deep, splashy “drip” that surf players love. The Tone and Mix controls allow precise shaping of the reverb’s character and blend.

The Topanga also features a discrete preamp inspired by the original tube circuit. Using the Volume control, this preamp can be used as a rich clean boost, adding warmth, presence, and character to your signal even when the reverb is disengaged.
